- Biggest challenge in my classroom right now is understanding and addressing individual needs. I have many students that are overwhelmed and stressed with some having a system to cope while others do not.

- My biggest challenge is a common one...time. Just as a conversation,or debate, is proceeding well and the students are engaged, the bell rings.

- My biggest challenge in the classroom right now is helping students learn how to curb their smart phone addiction. My school doesn’t really have a cell phone policy, and in some of my classes it’s gotten to the point where the students addiction to their notifications is becoming a serious detriment to their ability to learn and be successful in the classroom. I’m not eligible to apply for a grant for another couple years, but I’m starting to toy with the idea of doing something with the teenage brain and the impact of technology on it.

- With so many great initiatives such as Emotional Intelligence and introducing the Mood Meter to introduce to the students, it is difficult to fit it all into the day along with grade-level curriculum.

- Time seems to always be a challenge. There is never enough of it so I seem to speed up instead of slow down. Breathe in, breathe out. Go slow to go fast. I keep repeating those words to myself. Going deep is what matters!

- I’m teaching five different classes this semester, including one that’s new for me and another one in which I’ve started with a brand new unit. All the planning can be overwhelming! This year, one of my goals is to incorporate materials, resources, and experiences from my 2018 fellowship into more of my classes. I’m excited to expose my 9th and 10th graders to these, in addition to my 12th graders, which was the class I originally designed my fellowship for.

- We are an urban school in a rural county. We house the greatest diversity of student cultures in our county, but have no resources. We have limited technology, antiquated classrooms, and no money to help. My students are amazing but some struggle because I lack additional materials to supplement the state curriculum. On the other side I lack additional resources to enhance and ramp up my AIG students’ educational experiences. Don’t misunderstand, my students are awesome! Resources stink!

- The biggest challenge in my classroom right now is keeping the students interested in learning the information in every unit. It is difficult to make every topic EXCITING....... but every topic is important.

- I learned so much while I was gone this summer that I want to implement it all right now. It is so exciting and a brand new school year, but it is also a busy time. I have worked the most with implementing new lessons in fourth grade and will branch out more as I go!

- The biggest challenge in my classroom this year is getting students to trust their knowledge. We live in a society of instant gratification and information overload, so when the students have a question, all they have to do is google it and find the answer. I find that when I ask students to put their phones away and think for themselves, they don't always trust that it's correct. This is an issue because the students are afraid to take chances in the classroom.
